F2P coop shooter sexualness.  Think someone told me one of the lead devs made Tribes 2 and another is ex-Blizzard.

Yeah I can see a bit of Tribes in there... looks like Tribes had sex with Borderlands in a world that reminds me of the cyberpunk mmo, Neocron.

Nice graphics, good action, 1st and 3rd Person view (like Hellgate (Y)).  Good find D!  I will probably try this one out.  Read on the website that there is character upgrades and leveling, though they didn't call this an rpg game... interesting.  Either way, it has a lot of elements/factors that I look for in MMO's.

I'll have to give this a try indeed.

EDIT:  Just signed up for beta (crossing fingers).

From a post in the OF:

Quote from: franciscos3;3623
Hey all. I'm a video game journalist for the San Francisco Examiner. I got a chance to speak with Red 5 Studios CEO Mark Kern about the game at PAX. Below is the link to the article if you want to check it out. It's complete with a slideshow of some super cool concept art and screenshots.

http://www.examiner.com/video-game-culture-in-san-francisco/dispatch-from-penny-arcade-expo-one-on-one-demo-of-firefall

If you like what you see, feel free to subscribe and support.

Tell you what, I got to see the game in action and it's beautiful. I'm traditionally a console gamer when it comes to shooters, but I'm crossing over for this one.

Peace,

Francisco

Exerpt from the article:

The free-to-play model on this scale has only been implemented by few developers, and for good reason. It poses the massive risk of not generating any revenue at all if gamers are not willing to purchase those extra upgrades and items. Kern, however, did not seem phased by this, and Red 5 Studios seem ultimately focused on making gamers happy. “If you want to buy [the cost items], great. But if you don’t, it won’t take away from the experience as a whole.” It seems Red 5 Studios is confident in their intellectual property (IP) to take this risk, as well they should be.

Cthulhu is... mildly interested. Cthulhu however would be more intrigued if it had ... swords.

Yeah.... I just watched the two videos on that website. And then I signed up for the beta program.

It looks like it could be a rather fun diversion.  (Y)

I agree Great One, it's why we loved HGL so much, it had it all, science and sorcery... and FFS did a stellar job in making it work together nicely.  Who knows maybe if this one becomes popular and successful, we may get a chance to request various melee classes for future updates... well I'm getting ahead of myself... still never hurts to ask. (Y) ;D

Just in case it hasn't been fully absorbed this game is going to be free to play and free to own. There is no initial out of pocket to get this game and start playing. Kinda like Alien Swarm. There will be a micro transaction store, but the contents of which cannot be put into any realy detail as the game is still over a year out from release. And likely 4 to 6 months from closed beta. But apparently there will be nothing game-wise held back from free players. all levels and all maps will be there.
